Petron offers technology for methanol to formaldehyde and its downstream products for industrial applications. Methanol can be from fossil or bio sources such as e-methanol.
Petron’s solution & differentiators
Our highly efficient process synthesizes green formaldehyde by utilizing e-Methanol (produced from biogenic CO₂ and green H₂ through our strategic technology alliance) alongside pure oxygen sourced from an integrated Air Separation Unit (ASU). Designed for modern transition economies, our technology is fully feedstock-flexible and equally engineered to process conventional fossil-sourced methanol.
Downstream from the core formaldehyde block, Petron licenses proprietary production processes for both Urea-Formaldehyde (UF) and Phenol-Formaldehyde (PF) resins. These technologies seamlessly combine your formaldehyde stream with Green Urea or phenol to deliver high-performance, low-carbon polymer binders tailored to your market requirements.
Applicable feedstocks & products
Sustainable & conventional feedstocks
- Primary alcohol feed: e-Methanol (sourced via biogenic CO₂ and green H₂) or conventional, fossil-sourced industrial methanol.
- Oxidant stream: high-purity gaseous oxygen (O₂) integrated from an on-site Air Separation Unit (ASU).
- Downstream co-reactants: Green Urea grains or industrial-grade liquid phenol.
High-performance finished products
- Green formaldehyde solution: premium, high-strength aqueous formaldehyde (CH₂O) optimized for immediate downstream synthesis or merchant gas-liquid sales.
- Urea-Formaldehyde (UF) resins: high-efficiency, ultra-low emission liquid adhesive binders engineered specifically for interior-grade MDF, particleboard, and wood-panel composites.
- Phenol-Formaldehyde (PF) resins: high-durability, moisture-resistant Resole polymer binders designed for exterior-grade structural lumber, OSB, and high-heat laminates.
Commercial maturity
Commercially deployable and fully integrated with the e-methanol and green urea processes upstream.
