Petron experts were involved in concept to commissioning, start up, trouble shooting, normal operation and expansion of below plants.
There are several smaller and mid size capacity Ethanol based Ethylene for biofuels, downstream derivatives and HPEO application in development stage currently world wide.
Petron can also provide full technology solution for production of cellulosic ethanol from biomass as it acquired the DuPont’s G2.0 Technology with 200+ patents. This technology provides low carbon solution to integrate with Ethnaol to Ethylene process technology of PSI

Ethylene, EO / MEG
Over the last 30 years Petron has been involved in modification, expansion and improvement of over 10 EO/MEG projects, which were originally licensed and designed by Scientific design company of new Jersey (SD). Petron is actively involved in licensing and design of several grassroots-ethylene Oxide/Ethylene glycol projects around the globe having successfully completed projects greenfield project in Jilin China and three major recent revamp projects in South Korea (Hanwha, Lotte and LG) which were earlier licensed by SD.
Petron’s key experts were involved in original design and start up of Niznekamsk EO/MEG as well as Dzerjinsk (Sibur)’s EO/MEG projects in Russia while they had key positions at SD.
Petron provided operations, design and troubleshooting services to SD in EO/MEG in start up, expansion and revamp projects globally.
Petron’s key technical experts bring over 150+ years of combined experience in Ethylene and EO/ MEG plants worldwide, thirty projects in total. 30 years of specific experience of capacity expansion, energy efficiency, major revamps of these projects including development of Boiling Water Reactor system, Single EO purification column and unique patented Quench and bypass scheme. Our experts have been involved in concept to commissioning of EO/EG projects including technology development, Basic (BEDP) and FEED engineering, supervision of detailed engineering, construction, erection, procurement, plant operations, troubleshooting, plant upgrading, expansion and project management. Over the last 40 years (including 27 years at Petron), some of our key Specialists have played important roles in innovations and conceptual development of EO/EG Technology, including experience at Scientific Design Company Inc., Shell in USA, and Syntez in Russia. These roles included first design of Boiler Water Reactor system, Oxygen Mixing spargers, improving EO reactor performance and safety (Hazop / Hazan), design improvements in Absorber, stripping/ Scrubber, MEG reaction, evaporation and distillation section designs, and preparation of complete process design packages, basic design and design modifications. In addition, our key personnel supervised project management, cost control, plant operations, start-up, and technical services and troubleshooting for over thirty similar plants worldwide. These expertise was accumulated while working at Petron and SD, USA, Shell Chemicals, Syntez Russia, and at other independently owned and operated plants. Petron maintains alliances with reputed global engineering companies such as Maire Tecnimont (Italy), Technoedif Engenharia (Portugal) and Quantum Process Solutions (India). Petron has shared alliances with the Sinopec, the leading manufacturer of 15 EO and MEG in China and with Syntez in Russia who designed 7 such plants and. Examples of Petron’s other working partners include e.g. CRI (Shell) with their high efficiency EO catalyst, BASF catalyst group, Eickmeyer Associate, USA for proprietary CO2 removal technology. Petron’s alliances strengthens its position globally in the field.
Petron has full engineering and design team with over 350 + experience engineers at its engineering offices in Portugal (Technoedif) and in India (Quanta Process Solutions and Engineers India).
